I own a computer repair business in Leeds, Alabama. I originally bought SP SSDs for the low price alone... but I can honestly tell you that out of the many dozens of SP SSDs that I've bought over the past few years that only ONE has ever gone bad and I have reason to believe the customer has bad electrical wiring in their house that caused their computer to blow several power-supplies, too.
As long as SP produces FAST, low-cost and reliable SSDs, I'll buy them exclusively.
I've purchased more Silicon Power branded SATA and M.2 SSDs than the average buyer, because I upgrade PCs for a living.
I hope this review helps you feel more secure about investing in Silicon Power branded products.
This SSD is of great capacity and speed for the price, and I highly recommend this over many other 2.5-inch Internal Solid State Drives as it was the best 256GB option at an affordable price, and it has served me well so far!
Silicon Power A55 256GB TLC SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5-inch Internal Solid State Drive
These drives are great to swap out 7200/5400 rpm drives. They have great software for cloning your current drive and I have had no issues with the hardware itself.
Fast, Cheap, Glorious
Ordered the RAM myself because HP took around a month to tell me they wanted $300 for a $30 repair. I ended up doubling my RAM myself and it was still cheaper than what HP wanted. Will buy again if I need more.
This isn't the fastest SSD BUT if you're using an HDD this SSD will make your PC feel brand new.
I had been getting "Disk not properly ejected" errors constantly when the SP 4TB external hard drive was connected through a USB hub, even though the device remained connected. SP recommended this USB-C to USB-A adapter and I have had no issues since I started using it. Great support - if I have other issues in the future, I'm confident SP will provide the right solution without me having to do tons of research.
I bought this as a means to transfer the data from my old 1TB Intel 660p to my new SiliconPower US70 2TB. Honestly, it was quite a bit faster than I expected. It got that just done within a more-than-reasonable amount of time. My Intel 660p now lives in this enclosure and acts as a 1TB flash drive. I don't think I could have spent my money any better, to be honest.
In daily use, I have absolutely no complaints. I am constantly imaging the drive within this enclosure as a part of my work duties. Even compared to my fastest USB 3.0 Sandisk Ultra, the PD60 has about a 4x faster transfer rate (mind you, that's to a cut-rate Intel 660p NVMe drive).
This enclosure presents the drive as a bog-standard UAS mass storage device, making it compatible with pretty much everything. It even automatically installed the drivers on a Windows 7 machine today (which I found kind of surprising).
If you find yourself in need of a very large external USB drive, pair this with a 1TB or 2TB US70 for a great experience.
The only complaint I have about the PD60 overall is that it only comes with a USB C-to-C table, which limits your options when it comes to device compatibility. I had to purchase an extra A-to-C table from Amazon so that I can use it with the majority of machines that I work with on a daily basis. SiliconPower, please include an A-to-C cable in the future as well. As much as I'd love every device to support Type C, it's far from a reality. I would have happily spent a few more dollars on the drive for that addition.
i need another one they so good
