In 1958, a journalist published a story about a letter he received from loggers in California who had claimed to discover mysterious, large footprints in the forest.  Although sasquatch folklore has been recorded within indigenous cultures for centuries, it was arguably this story that sprung Big Foot from small town fame to international stardom.

Whether you believe in the existence of Big Foot (a.k.a. Sasquatch, yeti, yeren, grassman, etc.) or not, the fact remains that thousands of people across North America claim to have spotted a sasquatch in the wild.  What is it about this elusive creature that makes so many North Americans intrigued to the point of fanatic devotion? Is it his elusive demeanor?  His hide and seek skills? Maybe it’s his feet…you know what they say about big feet…

Just as with ghosts, aliens, and the general unknown, we’re likely attracted to the folklore of Sasquatch just on the chance of capturing the forest fugitive ourselves.  It’s like a friendly competition of Where’s Waldo in real life, or a Hollywood Celebrity Hunt. In essence, we are the paparazzi of the hairy humanoid.
